Poretti was founded in 1877 when Angelo Poretti opened a brewery in Induno Olona, a small town in northern Italy near the Alps (population 10,000). Before starting the brewery, Poretti spent years traveling through Austria, Germany, and Eastern Europe learning the art of brewing, eventually bringing his findings back to Italy to develop his own beer. From the beginning, the brewery focused on using different hop varieties (4 to be exact) to create balanced, flavorful lagers—a tradition that still defines the brand today. More than 140 years later, Poretti remains one of Italy's most recognizable beer brands, known for combining Italian style, history, and culture.
