Dominique Portet is a ninth-generation winemaker with a rich history rooted in Bordeaux, France, dating back to the 18th century. He is recognized as a pioneer in revitalizing Australia's cool-climate wine industry, notably establishing Taltarni and Clover Hill sparkling wine houses in the 1970s and 80s. In 2000, driven by a desire to craft Bordeaux-style wines in a comparable terroir, he founded his eponymous winery in Coldstream, Yarra Valley. Today, Dominique and his son, Ben Portet, who represents the tenth generation, collaborate in running the winery, producing critically acclaimed wines known for their French elegance and structure.
