Tryon Names New President

Charlotte, NC – This week, Tryon Distributing announced that Ed Johnston, current Vice President of Business Development, will assume the position of President on January 1, 2021.

“Over the last 15 years I have held several positions [within Tryon]. Each of these different positions gave me both perspective and a deep appreciation for how much work goes into doing them well. In my new role I hope to use my gathered experiences to help drive positive change and make Tryon a company that you are all proud to be a part of,” Ed said in a company-wide email earlier this week.

Current President and Owner, Brad Johnston, will be moving into the role of CEO and remains majority owner in the company. Brad will still be heavily involved within Tryon and this shift will allow him to focus on overall strategic development.

“I believe the time has come for me to get the help I need so that I many continue to focus on what is most important, which is the long-term vision for Tryon. This means that I will have more time to focus on the big picture and Ed will start handling more of the day-to-day operations. While I know everything will be in good hands, I will still be working closely with Ed in his new role…to continue to grow Tryon,” Brad said in his email to the company informing them of this change.

Tryon Distributing is a Charlotte-based craft beer and wine distribution company started 35 years ago with three people and has grown into a statewide distributor with 270 employees. They are proud to be family-owned and operated.

Ed finished his email by saying, “I’m excited to finish up this year strong in my current position and I am beyond excited to keep contributing to the success of this extraordinary company when the new year begins.  I’d like to raise a glass to all of you, and to 35 more years of Tryon!”
